Finally some time to update this site again. Just came back from Europe after playing the first European concerts with my NY quartet. The audience gave us a warm welcome and we can't wait for our next longer European Tour that will take place from the 21st of March till the 3th of April 2011. We're also planning a new cd recording, please stay tuned for more updates about this recording. So, what's going on in the coming months? In the coming week, I will be performing in NY with a band I co-lead called Roscopaje feat. Scott Dubois, Pascal Niggenkemper and Jeff Davis. As a sideman I will be performing with the trio of Pascal Niggenkemper with special guest Tom Rainey in drums. In the beginning of June I will be going to Belgium again for 10 days to play some concerts with the great baritone saxophonist Bo Van der Werf and I will also be participating in the Baldwin Project, a retake of the beautiful cd with poems by James Baldwin my dear friend Pierre Van Dormael made with vocalist David Linx and many others. In the summer I will be working on a classical composition for string quartet, voice, piano and saxophone. More info about this project soon. I will also be mixing and mastering the new Narcissus cd that will be released this October on W.E.R.F. In the fall I will tour with Narcissus, my quartet with Bill Carrothers and I will be joining the band Octurn for their great Gamelan project with the contemporary ensemble Ictus. Hello everybody, I'm very happy that my new record 'Starbound' has received great critics in the US as well as overseas. Reviews will soon be added to the website. This March I will be on tour again in Europe. First will be a short tour and recording session with Narcissus. The new cd of Narcissus will be released this coming fall on the label W.E.R.F. This will be followed by a tour with the Pascal Niggenkemper trio feat. Gerald Cleaver. All dates can be found in the calendar section. In May my NY Quartet feat. Ralph Alessi, Thomas Morgan and Jeff Davis will be performing for the first time in Europe. Dates will soon be added to the calendar. On the 4th of April we will be performing at Cornelia Street Cafe in NY. All the best, Robin |

NEW CD ROBIN VERHEYEN QUARTET 'STARBOUND' |

Hello everybody, I'm very glad to announce that my new quartet cd 'Starbound' will be officially released on the 30th of October on Pirouet Records. It will be followed by a short cd release tour through Europe in november. Dates can be found in the calendar section. The new duo cd 'Semplice' with pianist Aki Rissanen was recently released on the FInnish label Alba Records. We will do a short cd release tour in the end of October, beginning of November in Finland and Belgium. At the moment I'm touring with Narcissus. We're playing new music of our soon to be released cd in trio, quartet and quintet. For 2010 new tours are being planned with my NY Quartet feat. Ralph Alessi, my regular quartet, Narcissus and the Pascal Niggenkemper Trio. More info to follow soon. All the best, Robin |
